Villanova-Maine Post-Game Quotes

Sept. 15, 2007

Recap |  Box Score

Villanova Head Coach Andy Talley...

On winning in overtime: You feel fortunate every time you win an overtime game because I really think it comes down to luck. We are 8-3 in overtime games since I have been here. You just throw it into the hands of the Lord.

On tonight's game plan: We played as well as we could tonight. Maine has a great defense and we felt as though we needed to run the ball to rest our defense because we have a bunch of kids hurt on that side of the ball.

On the play of the game: The play of the game, as well as the turning point, was Matt Dicken's touchdown run off the screen play. That's as great a run as I have seen in my 23 years at Villanova.

On Antwon Young: Our focus is to run the ball right now as Antwon continues to grow and mature as a quarterback.

On his 150th Villanova victory: I had forgotten about the 150. Someone had mentioned it to me last week. Sometimes you get stuck on those milestone wins. Sometimes it's a struggle to get over the hump. So, I didn't really want to think about it. We had talked during the week that we needed to take care of business against Maine.

Senior running back Matt Dicken...

On the screen play that tied the game in the fourth quarter: I am not sure if they brought pressure on that play or not. I stepped up, swung outside, looked up field, and saw blue jerseys on white jerseys all the way down field so I just hit it to the sideline and took off. I feel like any one of our players could have done that with the way they blocked out there.

Senior defensive back Eugene Clay...

On Maine's quarterback switch: We didn't really have to make many changes. We knew that Farkas was a passing quarterback so with him in the game they were going to try to pass more.

On Maine missing the last field goal of regulation: There is nothing that can really describe it. I was just thankful for the opportunity for us to get back on the field.
