Wildcats Finish in 19th Place at First Market Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior Doug Stadler (Wexford, Pa.) led the way for the Wildcats finishing tied for 64th place in the First Market Bank Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. Villanova finished in last place in the event struggling on their first day shooting 331, but they improved on the second round with a score of 308.

Stadler, the team medalist, started out shooting 79 in the first round and then finished with a 75 in the second. His score was 17 strokes behind the first place finishers in the tournament.

Freshman Colin List (Boynton Beach, Fla.) finished tied for 78th place. He shot a 79 in the first round and 78 in the second, finishing only 3 strokes behind teammate Stadler. Freshman Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.) ended the competition tied for 85th place with a combined score of 158. Casey was able to lower his stoke count by 10 to have the low team score of 74 in the second round.

Sophomore Michael Gross (Clarks Green, Pa.) shot 90 in the first round and improved by nine strokes in the second round to finish in 101st place. Junior Andrew Alexander (Rochester, Minn.) finished in 103rd place shooting 89 in the first round and 88 in the second.

Francis Marion University took home first place in the tournament with a team score of 286 in round one and 283 in the second round to end one over par. Christopher Couch of Francis Marion and Mark Sommergeld from University of Detroit Mercy tied for tournament medalist honors at five under par. Couch had the lowest individual round with a 67.
