ANNAPOLIS, Md. - In the team's first dual event of the 2007-08 season, Villanova (0-1) was defeated 6-1 by Navy (5-1) on Saturday evening at the Brigade Sports Complex. The Wildcats picked up their lone point with a win at fourth singles by freshman Trenton Alenik (Las Vegas, Nev.).

Alenik picked up on the momentum gained during a strong fall season with a thrilling three-set win over Ramsey Lemaich. The match between the pair was one of only two singles matches that went three sets and was the longest match of the day. Alenik finally captured a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victory over his opponent.

Freshman David Shaheen (Boca Raton, Fla.) went to three sets in his third singles match against Jason Hill before falling 1-6, 6-3, 1-6.

In doubles play, Alenik and junior Brian Maher (Dallas, Texas) were involved in a close match at the top slot against Nate Nelms and John Waters. The Midshipmen tandem eventually came away with an 8-5 decision in the closest of the three doubles match.
