VILLANOVA, Pa. - Jamie O'Hara will be a member of the Villanova softball team for the 2009 season, head coach Maria DiBernardi has announced.

A native of Lithia, Fla. O'Hara earned numerous accolades while playing in the outfield for Joe E. Newsome High School. She was named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-Region Team as well as the All-Florida State second team for outfield. She earned multiple all-county and all-conference selections and was a 5A Florida State Final Four Regional and District winner. O'Hara was also a two-time (2005, 2007) varsity softball Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time (2005, 2006) varsity softball defensive Player of the Year.

"Jamie is a bundle of energy," DiBernardi said. "Her zest for life and her enthusiasm is contagious and she will be a spark plug for our team. Jamie has incredible speed in the outfield and is a great left-handed hitter who will put pressure on the defense and make our offensive game exciting to watch. We are very excited that Jamie will be a part of our family here at Villanova, she will be a great addition."

Along with her impressive athletic achievements, O'Hara is an outstanding student. She is a member of the National Honor Society, was the junior class president and was a 2007 AP Scholar.
