MURRELLS INLET, S.C. -- Northwestern finished in 11th place with a 58-over 922 at the General Jim Hackler Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. The Wildcats shot a final round 26-over 314 and dropped four spots after entering the day in seventh place.

The course played extremely tough over the two days with the average score of all three rounds more than five strokes above par. In a field including 10 teams ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 50, Northwestern finished ahead of No. 27 North Carolina and just one stroke behind No. 28 Pepperdine. Only six of the 15 teams finished less than 50 strokes above par.

Senior Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) continued his rebound from a tough opening round of 5-over par to shoot his best round and finish tied for 12th overall with an 8-over 224 (77-74-73). His 1-over performance was one of Monday's best as only one player in the field of 81 finished below par on the day.

Freshman Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) turned in another solid outing, to finish at 15-over 231 (81-74-76) in a tie for 36th. Sophomore David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) tied for 60th overall at 23-over 239 (79-79-81). Not far behind, freshman Ravi Patel (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) finished in a tie for 65th at 26-over 242 (79-79-84).

Tied for third after the first two rounds, senior Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublic Scioto) was disqualified Monday after signing an incorrect scorecard.

The Wildcats are off for the next two weeks and return to action March 26-27 at the Western Intercollegiate Tournament in Santa Cruz, California.
