COLUMBUS, Ohio - Northwestern is tied for sixth place with Wisconsin after the first two rounds of play at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State at the par-71, 7,455 yard Scarlet Course. The Wildcats were 12th in the 14-team field after a 33-over 317 morning round, but bounced back with the lowest team score of the day - a 13-over 297 - to jump up to sixth heading into Sunday's final round.

The Wildcats and Badgers are tied at 46-over, six shots ahead of eighth place Louisville. Michigan State leads the tournament with a combined 37-over 605.

The 'Cats' 297 was the only sub-300 score of the second round, five shots better than leader Michigan State's 302. This was thanks in part to significant improvement over the course of the day by seniors Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) and Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) and sophomore Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson).

Moore, no stranger to success at this tournament as a previous individual champion, is tied for eighth with a 9-over 151(78-73). Moore shot one of the lowest rounds of the day with a 2-over 73 to jump up 27 spots during the course of the second round. Michigan State's Ryan Brehm leads the tournament at 1-over 145.

After an opening round 13-over 84, Bowers turned in a 1-over 72 to tie for the lowest individual score of the second round. He is tied for 33rd with fellow Wildcat Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) and four other players at 14-over.

Senior Doyle also engineered a turnaround and turned in a 3-over 74 after opening with a 14-over 85 in the morning round. With the cumulative 17-over, he is in a tie with four others in 45th place.

Sophomore David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) is tied for 55th after shooting a 19-over 161 (77-84).

The Robert Kepler Intercollegiate continues Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. EST. The action can be followed live online at Golfstat.com.
