TUCSON, Ariz. -- Senior Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) shot a 75-76 through the first two rounds to lead a balanced Northwestern effort as the Wildcats sit in a 12th-place tie at the 10th annual Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The Wildcats begin the final round tied with Kansas State at 605, and sit just 16 strokes back of first place Indiana and Oklahoma.

NU had a competitive effort by the entire team through the first two rounds, as five strokes separate the team. Freshman Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) is one stroke back of Trachok, while junior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) and freshman Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) are just two strokes back. Senior Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) shot a 77 in round two to finish at 156, five strokes back of Trachok.

The Wildcats finished round one in 11th-place, shooting 302 as Lindenschmidt and Lederhausen both shot a 74 through the first 18 holes, with Trachok right behind at 75. NU's 303 in the second round was led by Hong shooting an even-par 72.

Indiana and Oklahoma are tied atop the leaderboard at 589, with Missouri just two strokes behind in third place. Play should be intense on Sunday's final round as seven schools are within ten strokes of the Hoosiers and Sooners. The final round gets underway at 9 a.m.
