2008 Lady Buckeye Final Results/Standings

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern held off a late charge from Wisconsin to place fourth at the 28th-annual Lady Buckeye Invitational. Senior Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) had one of her best outings of the year, shooting a 13-over 229 (76-74-79) to finish 10th, the second time this season Trachok has posted a top-10 finish.

NU began the day in third-place after shooting a 31-over 607 (303-304) through the first two rounds. The Wildcats carded a 310 on the afternoon to finish with a 59-over 923 and in fourth place. But they did enough to earn the one-stroke victory over fifth-place Wisconsin as the Badgers shot a 60-over 924 (310-311-303).

Junior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) had a good tournament for NU, finishing one stroke back of Trachok with a 14-over 230 (75-75-80) and in 11th place. Senior Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished in a tie for 20th at 19-over 235 (74-77-84), followed by freshman Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) in a tie for 33rd-place with a 24-over 240 (79-77-84). Senior Justina Yu (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) and freshman Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) rounded out the scoring for Northwestern, as Yu shot a team-best 77 on the afternoon to card a 27-over 243 (82-84-77) while Lindenschmidt was 29-over at 245 (80-85-80).

Kent State ran away with the tournament, using three sub-300 rounds to shoot a 21-over 885 (294-299-292) and finish 28 strokes ahead of the runner-up Buckeyes at 49-over 913 (300-303-310). Michigan State placed third with a 53-over 917 (303-310-304), edging the Wildcats by six strokes.

Northwestern now prepares for the final tournament of the season when it travels to University Park, Pa., to compete in the 2008 Big Ten Championships April 25-27. The first round gets underway at 7 a.m. CT Friday.
