`Cats Return to the Links at Indiana Invitational
April 6, 2008
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern returns to the links competing in the Indiana Invitational April 7 and 8 at the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. The two-day tournament promises to serve as a good tune-up for the Big Ten Championships at the end of the month, as a handful of Big Ten schools are competing. Aside from the host Hoosiers, NU is battling conference foes Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and sixth-ranked Purdue. Ball State, Illinois State, Lipscomb, Oregon, Texas and UNLV round out the field. The Wildcats finished sixth last season at the Invitational, as junior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) placed 30th. She was competing as an individual. Seniors Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) also were in the hunt for Northwestern, finishing two and nine strokes back of Hong, respectively. Freshmen Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) also will tee-up for the 'Cats. Northwestern is coming off a 14th-place finish at the Mountain View Collegiate March 29 and 30 in Tucson, Ariz. Hong paced the Wildcats with a three-round score of 228, including an even-par 72 in the second round. Trachok finished one stroke behind Hong, while Lederhausen was three back.
Live scoring of the event will be available on golfstat.com.
