Ohio’s Ryan Takes Javelin Title At MAC Outdoors

TOLEDO, Ohio – Ohio junior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) captured the javelin title during the first day of action at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at Toledo.

Ryan scored 10 team points for the Bobcats with a throw of 150-10.5 which is a career best by over nine feet. Ohio senior Ashlee Bilhimer (Gardner, Kan.) was third in the javelin with a throw of 143-0.75, which was just shy of her personal best.

Ohio currently sits in third place following day one of competition with 16 team points.

Through four events, Ohio senior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) sits in fourth place in the women’s heptathlon with 3,033 points. Cuckler took fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.47) and the high jump (5-2.25) while taking fourth in the shot put (36-11.25) and fifth in the 200 (26.01).

Action at the MAC Outdoor Championships resumes on Friday at 8:30 a.m. with the 10K, which was rescheduled from Thursday night.  Multievents resume at 10:30 a.m. while the shot put kicks off the field events at 12:30 p.m.
