Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Gerry Gdowski

On the competition at quarterback:

It's been good. We've just really tried to mix anybody in there. We've tried to get everybody a lot of reps and we've certainly seen some good things.

On junior quarterback Boo Jackson:

It's hard because he's only been on campus for about a week and a half and he's had a lot of things thrown at him. You just want to make sure he's getting where he needs to get and that he's growing more comfortable with the offense.

On what the staff does to help him get acclimated with Ohio:

The main thing is just making sure he's comfortable academically. He's a long way for home and I just want to make sure everything is going ok for him.

On Jackson and his relationship with the rest of the group of quarterbacks:

Our guys have always worked well together, whether it's out here or in the meeting room. Boo really fits in well with everyone here in terms of wanting to learn the system and it's going well from that standpoint.

On Jackson's progress:

He's what we thought we were getting. He has a very strong arm and can do some things athletically. For a guy who had never thrown a ball to any of our receivers until just over a week ago, he's done very well. You can't expect him to understand and be able to direct every aspect of the offense at this point.

On junior quarterback Theo Scott's progress:

He's just more comfortable out there (as compared to last year). He's done some of the little things we've asked him to do to get better. He wants to be great and he has had a great first two weeks of practice.

On the differences between the two quarterbacks:

It's hard to really without having the opportunity to see Boo in a live scrimmage situation. It would be hard to judge anything at this point, but I think our guys are working hard. Boo worked hard and Theo has certainly stepped up his play this spring. Brandon Jones has gotten healthy this year and Brian Sweeney has shown some flashes as well.

Senior quarterback Theo Scott

On the difference between last year and this spring:

I just have more confidence and I've been a more vocal leader. We're looking for leaders and I've just tried to contribute more of it vocally. Right now, I'm more confident with the offense and I know where to go with the ball in certain situations.

On the improvements he has made:

I feel more mature actually. I know where guys are going to be when I drop back and I'm making the right reads. Decision-making is one of the things I'm working on right now and just the mental state of the game. I don't want to hesitate out there.

On his relationship with Boo Jackson:

It's good. He seems like a very composed person and a really good guy. We haven't really had a chance to know each other, but he does seem like a nice guy. He's one of my teammates and I respect him a lot. We're going to get out there and just compete.
