HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Ohio men's golf team finished in a tie for 15th at the rain-shortened Marshall Invitational Saturday with a two-round total of 596 (298-298, +28).

 

Illinois shot a 554 (274-280, -14) to take the overall team win. Among MAC schools, Miami finished in a tie for ninth at 585 (288-297, +17) with Ball State (291-294). Bowling Green tied for 11th (287-300, +19) and Northern Illinois tied the Bobcats in 15th (298-298).

 


 

 

Senior Mark Phillips (Hilliard, Ohio) shot a two-round total of 145 (71-74) on the par-71, 6,476-yard course to lead Ohio, while sophomore Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) notched a 151 (76-75). Sophomore Stewart Jamieson (76-76, Worthington, Ohio) and sophomore Chad Warmbein (79-73, McMurray, Pa.) each posted a 152. Sophomore James McGrath (Connellsville, Pa.) rounded out the team with a 154 (75-79).

 

Penn State's Robert Rohanna shot took top individual honors with a total of 136 (70-66).

 

Phillips finished in a tie for fourth in the tournament in pars with 26.

 

The Ohio men's golf team will be back in action next Sunday and Monday at the UK Bluegrass Invitational on the Big Blue Course in Lexington, Ky.
