Final Round Results

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-The Ohio men's golf team finished ninth Sunday at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on the campus of Penn State University.

                                                             

The Bobcats shot a 325 on the par 71, 7,202-yard Blue Course Sunday to finish with a three-round total of 920 (297-298-325). Other MAC competitors included Miami (second, 894), Akron (fourth, 907), Bowling Green (sixth, 914) and Ball State (seventh, 916).

 


 

 

Sophomore Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) was the highest Ohio finisher with a three-round total of 229 (74-74-81), while sophomore Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) finished at 231 (77-73-81). Sophomore Stewart Jamieson (70-76-88, Worthington, Ohio) and junior James Ellis (76-78-80, McMurray, Pa.) both finished in a tie for 43rd at 234, and freshman Chuck Nettles (82-75-83, McMurray, Pa.) rounded out the team with a 240.

 

Warmbein finished the tournament tied for third in pars with 34.

 

Robert Rohanna of Penn State won the tournament with a total of 216 (72-68-76). Rohanna became the first player to win the tourney in back-to-back years and third to win the tournament twice (Clarion's Joe Boros in 1982 and 1984 and Penn State's Sherm Hostetter in 1975 and 1977).

 

Ohio will be back in action Saturday at the First Energy Invitational in Ravenna, Ohio, which will be hosted by Kent State.
