Round One and Two Scores Get Acrobat Reader

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ohio men's golf team is in third place after 36-holes of golf on the first day of the men's MAC Championships at Eastern Michigan.

Eastern Michigan is in first place with a combined team score of 584 and Akron is just two strokes back with a two-round team total of 586. Behind the Bobcats in fourth is Ball State with a team stroke total of 598. Ohio holds a five stroke lead on BSU with a first-day total of 593.

Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) shot a team-best 146 on day one, with a two-below-par 70 in the first round and a four-over-par 76 in the second round. He is currently tied for seventh with two other competitors. Gusweiler avoided any peaks or valleys while on the course in the first day of MAC Championships play. He averaged 3.13 on the par-3s, good for second-best, and shot 25 pars, also tied for second-best amongst the 45 competitors. He averaged a score of 4.1 on par-4s, tied for seventh-best, and averaged 4.88 strokes on par-5s.

James Ellis (McMurray, Pa.) shot a team-best 73 in round two after recording a 76 in the opening round to finish with a two-round total of 149. Ellis led the Bobcats with seven first-day birdies. Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) sports a two-round total of 151 after the second loop (74+77) and teammates Mark Reinhold (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) are just behind him with a two-round total of 152. Reinhold, who knocked in the Bobcats' only eagle on the day (seven eagles total), shot a 79 on day one and a 73 in the second round. Warmbein fired a 74 in the first round and a 78 in his second loop.

Eastern Michigan's Peter Sauerbrei leads after the rain-delayed second round with a two-under 172 after tallying back-to-back cards of 71.

Toledo's Ciaran McAleavey was one-under after the first round but but now sits in a three-way tie for second at even par. Also tied for second is Northern Illinois' Zach Jecklin, at 144 with a pair of 72-stroke rounds, and Kent State's David Ludlow who rebounded from a 74 in his first round to shoot a two-under 70.

The best round of the day went to Kent State's Brett Cairns who shot a 78 in round one but followed it up with a 69 in round two.
