RIO VERDE, Az.-The Ohio women's golf squad completed competition on the Quail Run Golf Course on day one of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational Friday.

 

The team, which currently stands at 18th overall (+40, 328), was led by Jordan Fesh (Toledo, Ohio) and Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio), who each shot nine-over-par 81s. Erin Cahill (Hilliard, Ohio) was just one shot back with a 10-over-par 82, while Katie Stafford (Phoenix, Az.) fired a 12-over-par 84. Blacklick, Ohio's Lauren Bergman (+14, 86) and Centerville, Ohio's Colleen Lienesch (+16, 88) rounded out the squad. Cahill finished in the top 15 in par 3 scoring for the afternoon at 3.25 strokes per hole.

 

Texas Tech is the day one leader after firing a three-over-par 291. The Red Raiders were led by Ulrika van Niekirk's four-under 68, which was the top individual round by three strokes.

 

Eastern Michigan (+15, 303) currently stands sixth and is the top MAC school in competition, followed by Western Michigan and Toledo who are tied for seventh (+17, 305), Ball State in 10th (+19, 307) and Bowling Green in 15th (+28, 316).

 

Day two of the three-day event will continue Saturday.
