RIO VERDE, Az.- The Ohio women's golf squad completed competition on the Quail Run Golf Course on the final day of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational Sunday.

 

Katie Stafford (Phoenix, Az.) led Ohio once again with the team's lowest round of the tournament, an eight-over-par 80. Erin Cahill (Hilliard, Ohio) and Lauren Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) were one shot behind at 81, while Jordan Fesh (Toledo, Ohio) posted an 82. Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) and Colleen Lienesch (Centerville, Ohio) rounded out the squad with an 86 and an 88, respectively. The round of 324 was the Bobcats' best over the three-day period.

 

Ohio finished the weekend 18th with a total of 981 strokes (+117). Notre Dame was the overall winner with an 11-over total of 875. Other MAC competitors were: Eastern Michigan (fifth, +45-909), Western Michigan (T-6th, +52-916), Ball State (T-9th, +54-918), Toledo (12th, +62-926) and Bowling Green (14th, +77-941).

 

Stafford posted the best Ohio individual performance for the weekend with a three-day total of 245 (+29). So-Hyun Park of Notre Dame was the overall medalist with a four-under total of 212.

 

Stafford was tied for 20th in the tournament in par 3 scoring with a 3.33 average (+4).

 

The Bobcats will be back in action April 4-5 at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational.
