ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio women's soccer associate head coach Jim Welch has announced the dates of the Ohio University Extended Soccer Clincs. The camps will run from July 7, 2008 to July 10, 2008. This will be the seventh year of the clinic and the second under the direction of Welch.

"Ohio Soccer is excited to once again be hosting its Extended Soccer Clinics," Welch said. "These camps provide a great way for us to connect with the Athens community and to help area soccer players develop their skills while having a whole lot of fun."

Welch played collegiately for Marquette University before spending time as an assistant for his alma mater. He also played in Major League Soccer (MLS) for the Los Angeles Galaxy and for the United State U-18 and U-20 teams. Welch just completed his fifth year on the sidelines for the Bobcats.

He will be assisted at the camp by Ohio women's soccer head coach Stacy Strauss and graduate assistant coach Amy Switzer. Participants will train under the direction of the Ohio women's soccer coaching staff and with current Bobcat players.

The tentative daily schedule will begin with warm-ups at 9 a.m. before the first skill session at 9:20 a.m. Games will be played at 11:30 a.m. until lunch at noon. Demonstrations will follow the lunch break at 1 p.m. with another set of games to close out the day at 2:30 p.m.

Interested athletes can sign-up for either the half-day camp (ages six-14) or the full-day camp (ages 10-14).

Campers must wear cleats and bring sneakers as well in case the camps are moved indoors due to inclement weather. Full-day campers should also bring a lunch and plenty of water. The camps will be held at Chessa Field, home of the Ohio Bobcat women's soccer team.

Costs for the clinics are $110 for the half-day camps and $210 for the full-day camps. The registration brochure can be printed using the link at the top of this page.
