NORFOLK, Va. -- The wind only allowed for two races in each division on the second day of the ODU Open as the Monarchs finished 3rd overall. Both Monarch boats finished 4th in their respective division, but together tallied 53 points, good for 3rd place. Junior Chip Lollar and freshman Kaitlyn Paulsen were just two points back of third in A division on the home water.
After just six races in both divisions, neither boat for ODU ever finished lower than eighth, and the B division boat of Alan Alkins and Wick Smith notched three second place efforts. Alkins and Smith edged Fordham for fourth place by just one point, with 24 total. In A division, Lollar and Paulsen were just two points out of the top three boats.
St. Mary's won the ODU Open and finished in the top three boats in both divisions in all but one of the completed races.
