The occasion was a Rose Garden Celebration, followed by a formal dinner with The President and Mrs. Bush.

"I am very lucky to have received this invitation to take part in such an amazing memorable day," said Capozzi. " There are many people who I would like to thank who have worked hard to make this happen. I would like to thank US Sailing, the US Olympic Committee, the staff at the White House, The President and Mrs. Bush for the invitation, and my teammates, and my supporters for making this experience possible.
