Balanced Attack Leads ODU Past James Madison, 72-52

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Gerald Lee scored 16 points to lead four Old Dominion players in double figures Wednesday night and the Monarchs used a big first half to cruise to a 72-52 victory against James Madison. The Monarchs (15-13, 10-6 Colonial Athletic Association), coming off a dramatic comeback victory against league leading Virginia Commonwealth, led 38-21 at halftime and by no fewer than 15 thereafter. The Dukes (11-15, 4-12) shot just 33 percent in the first half and were outrebounded 35-22. They got 14 points from Abdulai Jalloh and no more than 8 from anyone else. Brian Henderson added 13 points for Old Dominion, Frank Hassell had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists and Ben Finney also scored 12. The double-double for Hassell was the first of his collegiate career. Junior forward Jonathan Adams dished out a career high seven assists for the Monarchs who have now won four straight games.The Monarchs shot a season best .585 from the floor and dominated the boards, 35-22. Freshman guard Darius James hauled down six rebounds from the guard spot.
ODU returns to action Saturday night when they host the Bison of
Bucknell at 7 p.m. in the Constant Center in a bracketbuster game.
