Williamsburg, Va. - The ODU men's golf team shot a third round 283 on Sunday, the Monarchs best round of the weekend, to place second at the CAA Championships at the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course in Williamsburg. Georgia State captured the team title with a nine under par 843, followed by the Monarchs (868) and North Carolina Wilmington (872).

Sophomore John Murphy, who won the individual title last year, led the way for the Monarchs with a 215 thanks to his third round 69 on Sunday that moved him up to eighth place after entering the day 11th overall. ODU had three other golfers place in the top 15 as Jeff Long (219), Eric Onesi (220) and Stan Guerrero (221) finished 11th, 13th and 15th respectively. Guerrero made the biggest leap in the final round jumping up nine spots from 24th to 15th with his third round 71. Seth Norman's 223 which placed 23rd overall rounded out the field for the Monarchs.

Georgia State's Joel Sjoholm won the individual crown with a 12 under par 201, six strokes better than the second place finisher.
