BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.) came off the Lady Monarch bench to net a career-high 28 points to help lead the No. 13/18 Old Dominion women's basketball team to a 85-51 victory over Northeastern Thursday night at Solomon Court.

The victory gives the Lady Monarchs their ninth straight victory as they improve to 15-3 overall and 6-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Old Dominion has won 12 of its last 13 contests. Northeastern, meanwhile, fell in its fifth straight game, falling to 5-11 overall and 0-6 in league play.

Canady finished the night 10-of-14 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Twenty-two of her career-high 28 points came in the first half, including a run of 14 straight points. With the Lady Monarchs down 10-4 in the early part of the opening half, Canady went on a 14-1 run of her own to give Old Dominion the lead for good.

At the half, Old Dominion owned a 46-31 lead, the Lady Monarchs' largest halftime point total of the season.

In the second half, the Huskies got no closer than 13 as Northeastern's Shaleyse Smallwood brought the score to 50-37 with 13:48 remaining in the game.

Canady was one of three Lady Monarchs in double figures. Senior Shahida Williams (Newark, N.J.) finished the night with 13 points, including 10 second-half points, and junior Jen Nuzzo (Newport News, Va.) poured in 10 from off the bench.

Old Dominion held the Northeastern starting line-up all to single digit scoring. Lucia Pablos was the lone Husky notching double figures, coming off the Northeastern bench for 10 points along with four of the Huskies' five assists on the evening.

No. 13/18 Old Dominion closes out its three-game road trip when the Lady Monarchs makes their way to Newark, Delaware and the Bob Carpenter Center, site of the 2008 CAA Women's Basketball Tournament, to take on the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on Sunday, January 27th. Tip-off is at 2:30 and the game will be aired on Comcast SportsNet (Ch. 35 - Hampton Roads). Al Koken and Jody Lavin-Patrick will be on the call.
