NorCal meets SoCal in NCAA Women's Tennis Championship Match
May 19, 2008 Tulsa, Okla. - The Conference of Champions will celebrate another national title as the seventh-seeded UCLA and eighth-seeded CALIFORNIA women's tennis teams advanced to the NCAA Championship match with victories on Monday. All that's left to be determined is which team will claim the title when they face each other at Noon on Tuesday, May 20. The final can be seen live on ESPNU. The seventh-seeded UCLA women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Championship match for the second consecutive year, defeating sixth-seeded Florida, 4-2, in the semifinals. UCLA will be making its third appearance in the Championship match in the last five years. California faced a slightly tougher match as freshman Marina Cossou's win clinched a 4-3 victory for Cal over No. 5 Baylor, putting the Bears into the NCAA final for the first time in program history. After splitting dual matches this season, with each road team winning once, the Bruins and the Bears will clash for a third time to decide the 2008 NCAA Champion at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
