Tigers Fall at No. 6 Stanford, 7-2

Palo Alto, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team fell to No. 6 Stanford 7-2 on Monday, May 5. Pacific falls to 9-35 while the Cardinal improves to 28-15-2.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, as junior Kurt Wideman (Fallbrook, Calif.) walked and came around to score on senior Noah St. Urbain's (Stockton, Calif.) two-out double to right center field. The Cardinal struck back in the bottom of the third, scoring on a two-run single by Brent Milleville and an RBI ground out by Randy Molina to take a 3-1 lead.

Pacific scored another run in the fifth inning to make it 3-2, as junior Mike McKeever (San Diego, Calif.) drove in Wideman, who led off the inning with a double to right field. The Cardinal struck back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, on Sean Ratliff's 14th home run of the year, a three-run shot. Zach Jones added an RBI single to make the score 7-2.

Tiger starter Larry Holscher (McArthur, Calif.) gave up two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 1-4 on the season. Tiger sophomore Hunter Carnevale (Roseville, Calif.) pitched three scoreless innings in relief. Stanford starter Jeffrey Inman pitched five innings, allowing two runs and striking out five. He earned the victory to improve to 6-2.

Junior Joe Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.), freshman Nick Longmire (San Diego, Calif.) and St. Urbain each had a pair of hits to lead the Tigers. Longmire extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Joey August had three hits for the Cardinal.

The Tigers are next in action with a home game against Santa Clara on Wednesday, May 7. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at Klein Family Field.
