Having a fresh record going into league didn't seem to help our mindset as we dropped all three games to UC Davis last weekend. On Friday's game with the wind blowing straight in from center field, Waldron gave us another strong performance on the mound going 7 innings allowing one earned run, but our bats were pretty quiet getting just one run on six hits. Saturday, McCain threw well enough for us to compete allowing 4 earned runs in seven innings, but once again we struggled offensively.
Centanni made his first start of the season on the hill and threw well on Sunday, but we came us short again despite a seventh inning two run homer from Longmire.
We traveled to Santa Clara on Wednesday afternoon and the rain held up for the game, but came up short again as a big eight run inning in the bottom of the third for Santa Clara made it difficult to catch up. During Thursday's practice we had a hitting competition to help get our minds external and simplified so we are not so focused on the little mechanical details of our swings. Thursday night a group of us went downtown to watch former Tiger
Anthony Jackson play against the Ports in the Minor League Opening Day. He is playing for the Modesto Nuts (High A club for the Colorado Rockies) and he went 3-5 in the game with two runs scored. We take on UC Santa Barbara this weekend at home with games at 6 PM tonight and Saturday night and then at 1 PM on Sunday afternoon. Next week we will host Nevada on Tuesday night at 6 PM. We hope to see you out at Klein for our games.
