Pacific To Host Cal Poly at 8pm on ESPN2 Big Monday

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team will host Cal Poly on ESPN2's Big Monday on Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. Tiger fans are encouraged to wear orange and make it an Orange Monday.

LAST WEEK: The Tigers won 71-58 at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 24.

RADIO: All Tiger basketball games are broadcast live on KSTN (1420 AM) in Stockton, and most by ESPN Radio 970 AM in Modesto ... Mike Millerick calls the play-by-play ... Air time is 20 minutes before tip-off ... Pacific 71, UC Santa Barbara 58: The Pacific men's basketball team improved to 14-5, 5-1 in the Big West Conference with a 71-58 win at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, Jan. 24 ... The Gauchos fell to 14-5 (3-3 Big West) with the loss ... It was low-scoring early on, with the teams tied at 6-6 with nearly eight minutes gone by in the first half ... The Gauchos were able to take a 15-12 lead with 7:30 left in the first half, and led 17-14 with 6:10 remaining ... From that point, the Tigers out-scored UC Santa Barbara 12-0 the rest of the first half, hitting 5-of-8 shots from the field over the final six minutes to take a 26-17 lead at the break ... Pacific held UC Santa Barbara to 7-of-29 shooting from the field, including 0-for-7 to finish the half ... The Gauchos started the second half on a 9-3 run, cutting Pacific's lead to 29-26 with 15:08 remaining. Pacific 59, UC Irvine 53: A balanced offensive attack and strong defense lifted the Pacific men's basketball team to a 59-53 victory over UC Irvine on Saturday, Jan. 19 ... The victory lifted Pacific to 13-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Big West Conference, while UC Irvine fell to 7-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play ... UC Irvine took an early six point lead (11-5) with 13:15 remaining in the first half behind three three-pointers from Michael Hunter ... The Tigers came back with a 13-1 run over the next five minutes, with four points from Junior Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) to take an 18-12 run ... Pacific took the lead to 24-17 with 5:49 left in the first period after a jumper by Chad Troyer (Seattle, Wash.), but then missed all eight shots and were outscored 5-0 by the Anteaters the rest of the half ... The Tigers held a 24-22 halftime lead ... The scoreless stretch extended into the second half as the Anteaters were able to tie the score on a pair of free throws from Darren Fells ... Brown Earns Big West Player of the Week Honors (Jan. 21): Pacific junior forward Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) was named Big West Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 21, for his performances against Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine ... Anthony led the Tigers to a home sweep last week, averaging a double-double with 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game ... Against Cal State Fullerton he picked up his fifth double-double with a season highs of 20 points 14 rebounds ... He led the team in rebounding in both games, while shooting 61.1% from the field ... Brown Earns Big West Player of the Week Honors (Dec. 17): Pacific junior forward Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) was named Big West Conference Player of the Week for his performances against Santa Clara and Montana ... Anthony came off the bench for the first time this year against Santa Clara, scoring nine of his 15 points in the second half to help the Tigers to the 71-65 road win ... In the Tigers' home win over Montana on Dec. 15, Brown again led the Tigers in scoring with 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds ... Five of his points came in overtime, including two free throws with 15 seconds left to help seal the win ... Pacific Snaps Overtime Losing Streak Against Montana: The Tigers defeated Montana 76-71 in overtime on Dec. 15, the first overtime victory in the last seven overtime games ... After Pacific's OT victory over USF on Nov. 30, the Tigers lost the next six games that went to an extra period.

Tigers Use Different Lineup For First & Second Time: After using the same starting lineup for the first nine games of the season, the Tigers started Casey Neimeyer in place of Anthony Brown at Santa Clara on Dec. 12 ... Johnson Earns Big West Player of the Week Honors (Nov. 12): Pacific junior guard Steffan Johnson (Kent, Wash.) was named Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 12 ... Steffan earned the honor after one of the top assist games in school history against Western Michigan in the 90-76 victory ... His 12 assists tied for the third best single game mark in school history ... Against No. 12 ranked Oregon, he was one point off of his career high, with 22 points.

Brown and Vezia Earn 2006-07 All-Big West Honors: Pacific sophomore forward Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) and senior guard Reggie Vezia (Vacaville, Calif.) earned 2006-07 All-Big West Conference honors when the league's yearly awards were announced on Monday, March 5 ...
