Junior Moritz Starke Named Big West Player of the Week

Irvine, Calif. - After winning twice in singles play and twice in doubles action this weekend, Pacific junior Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) has now been named the Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 11-17.
In the Tigers' two dual matches last week, Starke defeated Saint Mary's Lucas Tirelli and UC Riverside's Gorjan Kovacevic at the No. 2 singles position, while he teamed up with David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) at the No. 1 doubles position to win both of those matches against Saint Mary's and UC Riverside as well.
This is the first time the Tigers have earned Athlete of the Week honors in 2008. The Pacific men's tennis team will be back in action on Feb. 24, when they take on Sacramento State at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. Matches will start at 1:00 p.m.
