David Gonzalez Earns Big West Player of the Week Honors

Irvine, Calif. - After earning two victories in singles play and two more in doubles action over the past week, the Big West has announced that freshman David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) has now earned the conference's Player of the Week Award for the week of Mar. 24-30.
Last week, Gonzalez defeated DePaul's Jose Moncada 6-1, 7-6(4) and Nevada's Alex Daruty 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in singles action to improve his overall record to 13-2 on the spring. He also teamed up with Vegerd Veskimagi (Saka, Estonia) at the No. 2 doubles position to earn victories over DePaul and Nevada's No. 2 doubles teams. He is now 9-6 in doubles matches on the year.
Gonzalez and the Tigers will return to action on Apr. 5, when they take on Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif. at 12:00 p.m. They will then take on UC Santa Barbara on Arp. 6 in Santa Barbara, Calif. That match will also start at noon.
