Pacific Play Pink on February 16

Pacific Plays Pink

While Tigers stripes usually run Black and Orange, Pacific's stripes will turn Pink in February as the women's basketball team plays in honor of Breast Health Awareness.

When the Tigers take on UC Irvine on February 16 at 4:00 pm in the Alex G. Spanos Center they will also be taking on breast cancer as they fight to support those who fight against cancer. Teamed up with St. Joseph's Medical Center, the Tigers will play to raise money for Breast Health Services.

Breast cancer is an issue that continues to touch people at an alarming rate. For example, in 2006, more than 212,920 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. One in every eight women will be affected by breast cancer in their life.

At the game, Pacific players will be wearing specially made pink uniforms that will be auctioned off after the contest in support of Breast Health Awareness. In addition to the uniforms, other game items will be up for auction. Donation baskets will be passed through the crowd throughout the game with all proceeds going to St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Pacific Plays Pink joins over 600 schools from across the country which are participating in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association "Think Pink" initiative. "Think Pink" is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast health awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
