Katie graduated from the University of Texas December 2007 after an illustrious swimming career. Some of Katie's accomplishments while at Texas include; ESPN Second Team Academic All-American 2007, NCAA Female Athlete of the Year nominee for the Big XII Conference 2007, The University of Texas Women's Swimming Team Academic MVP 2006, 2007, and she was also a semi-finalist at the 2004 U.S. Olympic trials in the 100 meter fly. In addition, Katie won the 200 yard butterfly each of her last two years at the Big XII conference championships.

Katie grew up in southern Indiana and swam for South Dearborn Swim Team under head coach, Shelby Baxter.

She is working towards a Master of Science degree in Sport Science and is expected to graduate in Dec. 2009.
