With just under two weeks until the start of the 2008 Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet, teams are kicking into high gear for the stretch run of the regular season. Army's Brandon Lewis and Domonick Sylve, Bucknell's Kevin MacLeod and Rebecca Frey and Lafayette's Janica Austin and Ashley Harbin were each recognized with weekly awards following their performances last week.

M-F Athletic Male Track Performer of the Week
Kevin MacLeod, Bucknell Jr., East Longmeadow, Mass.
MacLeod helped lead the Bison to a second-place team finish at the Bucknell Team Challenge this past weekend. The junior ran the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.16 seconds to finish third, and won the 400m hurdles in a time of 52.52 seconds. His time in the 400m hurdles was just 0.01 second off of the NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
M-F Athletic Female Track Performer of the Week
Janica Austin, Lafayette Fr., Trenton, N.J.
Austin continued her assault on the school record books as she ran well in two individual races and one relay at the Larry Ellis Invitational last weekend. The freshman broke the school record and qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.89 seconds. Austin missed the NCAA Regional by 0.07 seconds in the 400m hurdles, which she finished in a time of 1:00.89 to finish first. She also ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay, which finished fourth in a time of 47.58 seconds.

Brandon Lewis, Army Sr., Leesburg, Va.
Lewis posted IC4A qualifying marks in both the decathlon and the long jump at the Larry Ellis Invitational this past weekend. More impressively, though, the senior posted an NCAA Regional provisional-qualifying mark in the decathlon with a score of 6,927 points to finish third at the meet.
M-F Athletic Female Field Performer of the Week
Ashley Harbin, Lafayette Sr., Clarksville, Tenn.
Harbin earns her third weekly award of the spring after finishing first in the hammer throw event at the Larry Ellis Invitational last weekend. Her throw reached a distance of 59.88m, which improves her previous NCAA East Regional qualifying marks.
M-F Athletic Male Rookie of the Week
Domonick Sylve, Army Fr., Long Beach, Calif.
Sylve earns his first weekly award of the outdoor season after posting an NCAA Regional qualifying time in the 110m hurdles at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The freshman ran the event in a time of 14.30 seconds, which placed him fourth at the meet and first in the Patriot League so far this season.
M-F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week
Rebecca Frey, Bucknell Fr., Bethlehem, Pa.
Frey became the second-consecutive Bucknell field athlete to win this award after posting an ECAC qualifying height of 3.65m to win the pole vault event at the Bucknell Team Challenge this past weekend. The height was the third best in school history.
Honorable Mention
John Mickowski, Army
Sr., Muckwonago, Wis.
Mickowski just missed out on the NCAA Regional qualifying standard in the 800m race at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Mickowski, who has already qualified in the 1,500m, missed the mark by less than one second.
Patriot League Notebook
The City of Brotherly Love
All roads lead to Philadelphia later this week as track and field athletes from around the world will converge on Franklin Field for the annual Penn Relays. All eight Patriot League teams are scheduled to take part in the festivities, which begin on Thursday, April 24.
NCAA East Regional Qualifying Marks
It is just over two weeks into the 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field season, and several student-athletes have already snagged a trip to Tallahassee, Fla. for the NCAA East Regional Meet on May 30-31. Here are a few of the student-athletes that will be making the trip:

USTFCCCA Rankings Unveiled
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association unveiled the third set of national rankings for the 2008 outdoor season on Wed., April 16. Here's a look at where the Patriot League teams ended up:
Men
157. Army - 2.48 points
164. Navy - 1.47 points
Women
125. Lafayette - 3.86 points

2008 Patriot League Championship

The Eagles competed at the non-scoring Centennial Track Meet this past weekend, and had several first-place finishers. Junior Carlos Jamieson finished the 800m race in a new personal-best time of 1:51.85, which also earned him a victory in the event. Senior Kate Lilley completed the sweep in the 800m event, winning the women's race in 2:19.73. Junior Frank Borden, also a member of the men's basketball team, placed first in the high jump (1.95m) and second in the 400m hurdles (57.99 seconds).
Army
The Black Knights sent a handful of track and field athletes to the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. last weekend. Leading the way for Army was senior Brandon Lewis, who posted an NCAA Regional Provisional mark in the decathlon with 6,927 points. Freshman Domonick Sylve earned a bid to the NCAA Regional meet with his time of 14.30 seconds in the 110m hurdles. Senior John Mickowski finished sixth in the elite division of the 800m race, while sophomore Ebony Thomas led the women with a fifth-place finish in the 200m.
Bucknell
The Bucknell men and women each finished second of seven teams at the Bucknell Team Challenge last weekend. Setting the pace for the men's squad was junior Kevin MacLeod, who placed first in the 400m hurdles (52.52 seconds) and third in the 110m hurdles (15.16 seconds). Also competing well for the men was junior Chris Gabryluk, who won the javelin event, and Nicholas Hruch, who finished second in the high jump. Senior Jennifer Grant led the women with a first-place finish in the 3,000m run (10:40.74). In the field events for the women, senior Beverly Rogers finished first in the javelin throw with an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 45.98m.
Colgate
The Colgate men traveled to the Holy Cross Quad Meet, while the women competed at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational last week. For the women, Elizabeth Kennedy placed first with a personal-best time in the 5,000m race, and was joined in the winner's circles by sophomore Lauren Abuouf, who won the discus throw. For the men, Sean Baumann earned an individual victory in the 800m, while Lyle Tolli picked up a win in the 1,500m race.
Holy Cross
The Holy Cross men and women each picked up team victories at the Holy Cross Quad Meet this past weekend. Senior Conor Meikle placed first in the pole vault event for the men, finishing with a height of 4.11m. Fellow senior Thomas Harrison placed first in the triple jump (13.58m) and second in the long jump (6.69m) as well. The women were led by a pair of underclassmen as sophomore Tiffany Reid finished first in the 100m, 4x100m and 200m races, while junior Lesley Bautista tallied wins in the 4x100m relay, pole vault and long jump competitions.
Lafayette
The Leopards traveled to the Larry Ellis Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Brant Hammer, a mid-year transfer from West Virginia, led the men with a fifth-place finish in the 4x100m relay, a ninth-place finish in the 100m and a 14th-place finish in the 200m. The women were led by a pair of NCAA Regional qualifying marks, as freshman Janica Austin picked up the first of her career in the 100m hurdles, while senior Ashley Harbin improved on her mark in the hammer throw.
Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks sent runner to the Larry Ellis Invitational and the Moravian Greyhound Invite last weekend. At the Moravian meet, freshman Emily Settle was named the Outstanding Thrower of the Meet after finishing first in the hammer throw event. Sarah Serwo finished sixth in the 800m race at the Larry Ellis Inv. Andrew Jervis finished first in the 5,000m race to lead the men.
Navy
The Navy men were idle last week, but the women competed at the non-scoring Moravian Greyhound Invitational. Freshman Janet von Eiff led the way for the Mids, as she placed first in the shot put event, reaching a distance of 12.35m. Mia Blundetto finished second in the hammer throw as well.
