Women's Swimming and Diving Open In Second
Feb. 20, 2008 EAST MEADOW, N.Y.--Pitt's women's swimming and diving team opens the Big East Swimming and Diving Championships in second 97 points on the first day of competition at Nassau County Aquatics Center. Sophomore Margo Ekstrom (Erie, Pa./McDowell) improved to fourth in the finals of the 1M diving event with a score of 240.30, while sophomore Alyssa Ferraro (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) placed seventh with 236.05 points. In the first event of Wednesday's finals, the 800 free relay team finished fifth at 7:28.30. The squad consisted of juniors Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), Agnes Mago (Kecskemet, Hungary/Bolyai Janos/Radford) and Erin Meehan (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) and sophomore Megan Sculley (Sinking Springs, Pa./Wilson/William and Mary). The 200 medley relay team of sophomore Ryann Kishbaugh (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial), freshman Cookie McIntyre (York, Pa./West York Area), senior Brittany Stevens (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr's Mill/Florida State) and Agnes Mago (Kecskemet, Hungary/Bolyai Janos/Radford) claimed the final fifth-place time of the day at 1:43.28.
Thursday's lineup includes the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, men's 1M diving and the 200 free relay. The four days of action at the Big East Championships can be viewed at www.bigeast.org for a one-time fee of $9.95. |
