Limkemann Named USA Triathlon Rookie Of The Year

PITTSBURGH--Former Pitt swimming and diving coach and student-athlete Eric Limkemann was recently named USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year for 2007, after compiling numerous top-10 finishes in triathlons all over the world.

Limkemann found quick success in the world of triathlons, winning several events including the Pittsburgh Triathlon in 2006 and obtained pro status shortly thereafter. He has traveled the world to seek new challenges and has proven to be a top contender internationally.

As a member of the swimming and diving squad, Limkemann won nine Big East titles and was a 2002 NCAA qualifier in the 1650 free. A four-time conference winner in the 1650 freestyle, Limkemann is one of only two swimmers in school history to win a Big East title in the same event in each of his four years at Pitt. Additionally, Limkemann won two 500 free conference titles, the 400 IM title in 2002 and was also a member of the two-time winning 800 freestyle relay team.

A 2004 graduate, he is a winner of Pitt's prestigious Blue-Gold award for his work in the pool and in the classroom. He then joined the swimming and diving team as an assistant coach from 2004-2007.

Limkemann resides in Dayton, Ohio with his wife, Ashley. He plans on competing in the World Cup triathlon circuit this summer.
