Pitt men's soccer head coach Joe Luxbacher and staff will be hosting Shoot to Score Soccer Academy presented by Dicks Sporting Goods in a series of six sessions this summer. Online registration is available through the academy website at www.shoot2score.net.

 

Each camp session has been designed with particular age group and ability levels in mind. All sessions will be directed by an experienced and knowledgeable coach. Additional staff is composed of college and our high school coaches, as well as outstanding collegiate and high school athletes. Joining Luxbacher in instruction will be Pitt men's soccer assistant coaches Mike Bacasa and Brian Retzloff.

 

Luxbacher brings over 30 years of soccer experience to the Shoot to Score soccer academy. Playing at both the collegiate (Pitt) and professional (NASL) levels, along with a 23-year coaching tenure for the Panthers, Luxbacher has the ability to relate to athletes at all levels and ages. He has also authored more than a dozen books for both players and coaches, covering all aspects of the game of soccer.

CAMP FORMATS

 

Residential Academy - College Select Academy

Boys entering grades 9-12

July 18 - 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

July 19 - 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.

July 20 - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

$325.00 - residential

$260.00 - commuter

 

The Residential Academy session is designed for male athletes, both field players and goalkeepers who are entering high school. Participants will be trained and coached by members of the University of Pittsburgh coaching staff and select student-athletes. This highly-competitive training environment will provide players with an introduction to the dynamics of the college game as they prepare to further their soccer careers. Along with field work, participants will also attend select seminars, including a "College Recruiting and Compliance Seminar," presented by staff members of the University of Pittsburgh. During the three-day camp, participating athletes will be housed in Pitt dormitories while practicing in on-campus facilities, as well as receive a complimentary Adidas soccer ball and camp t-shirt.

 

 

Weekend Academy - Goal Scorer and Goalkeeper Academy

Boys and Girls ages 10-15 years

July 12 and 13 - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

$160.00

 

The Goal Scorer and Goalkeeper Academy focuses on the finishing attack. Athletes will enjoy two full days of shooting and scoring exercises, while combining training for goalkeepers into the process. A competitive game-situation will be simulated throughout the two-day camp, as participants practice on Pitt facilities. Lunch will be provided to all participants both days.

 

 

Weekend Academy - Elite Training Academy

Boys entering grades 9-12

July 26 and 27 - 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

$225.00

 

This weekend day-camp consists of two days of rigorous training, coupled with competitive games. Participants of the Elite Training Academy will be instructed and coached by members of the University of Pittsburgh coaching staff, as well as exceptional student-athletes from both the collegiate and high school levels. Exposure to the intensity of soccer at the collegiate level will provide participants with a look at what their future-careers could resemble by introducing them to the training and practice demands of the college game. Recruiting presentations, as well as lectures about strength and conditioning will be including in the two-day schedule, as all camp sessions will be held on Pitt's campus. Lunch will also be provided for all participants, as well as a complimentary Adidas soccer ball and camp t-shirt.

 

 

Extended Day Camp

Boys and Girls ages 8-15 years

July 14-16 9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.

July 17 - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

$225.00

 

The Extended Day Camp offers the serious soccer player the opportunity to develop skills and tactical knowledge in a comprehensive day-camp. Field players will go through both individual and team exercises and training skills, while goalkeepers will be trained at defending a multitude of shots, as well as footwork, diving and angle-playing skills. Participants will be provided with lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

 

Community Day Camps - Bethel Park

Community Day Camps are designed to offer young players both technical and physical development with different exercises and skills-training techniques to help keep a high level of interest and involvement in soccer. Participants will be sure to have fun at this engaging, multi-day camp as coaches focus on everything from dribbling and passing to shooting and heading skills through both individual and group exercises.

 

 

 

Medical and Insurance Info:
All participants must be covered by personal medical insurance. Each camper is asked to supply the company name, company address, policy number and name of the provider. Parents must sign the parental release. An athletic trainer will be present at all camp sessions.
