PITTSBURGH--Sophomore Kayla Zinger recorded her second shutout in as many days, as Pitt's softball team earned the sweep over Providence with a 1-0 victory in game two, this afternoon, at Trees Field. The Panthers improved to 20-13 on the season and 6-2 in the Big East, while the Friars slipped to 15-16-1 on the year and 1-5 in the conference.

Zinger (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) improved to 8-6 on the mound, allowing just two hits and recording six strikeouts in the game. Her third shutout of the year, Zinger boasts a 1.52 ERA after limiting batters to a .113 batting average in six games this week.

The win also marked Pitt's 10th shutout on the year and third consecutive. The Panthers are now just one shutout shy of the school record (11), set during the 2000 season.

Defensively, senior Kelly Stiles (Thurmont, Md./Catocin) made a key stop in the third inning after catching a line drive with runners on the corners.

Pitt recorded its lone score in the fourth inning after senior Jessica Dignon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) smashed a leadoff homer that lined through center field. The hit marked Dignon's fifth home run of the season, a career high. She was 2-for-3 and recorded one RBI and three assists in the contest.

On the week, Dignon led all with 10 RBI and is the school record holder with 100 in her four years as she bested Francesca DiMaria's (2003-06) mark of 92. Additionally, she has scored 97 runs in her career, which sits second behind DiMaria's 133.
