UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--Pitt softball gives up two runs in the fourth inning and drop a 6-0 decision to Penn State in game two of this afternoon's doubleheader held at Nittany Lion Field. The Panthers slipped to 21-14 on the year, while the Nittany Lions improved to 27-14 after earning the split.

The Panthers had a great opportunity to score after freshman Reba Tutt (Culpeper, Va./Highland) was walked and senior Jessica Dignon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was hit by a pitch in the sixth. However, both were left stranded with a ground out on the next play.

Pitt recorded the first hit of the game, as junior Samantha Card (Miami, Fla./Our Lady of Lourdes/Florida International) singled up the middle in the fourth inning, with two outs on the board. Later, senior Kelly Stiles (Thurmont, Md./Catocin) would record a two-out single in the fifth.

Sophomore Kayla Zinger (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope), who fell to 8-7 on the mound, earned the final hit for the Panthers in the seventh.

Zinger gave up her first three hits of the game in the fourth inning, which were all doubles that led to the first two runs of the game. Then in the sixth, Penn State scored four runs off three hits and a Pitt error.

On the road this weekend, Pitt faces USF on Friday, April 11, at noon.
