TAMPA, Fla.--Pitt's softball team tied the game in the sixth inning, but fell 2-1 in a heartbreaking game two of its doubleheader against USF at USF Softball Stadium, this evening.

Freshman Ashley Amistade (Washington, Pa./Trinity) tied the game at 1-1 for the Panthers (21-16, 6-4 Big East) in the sixth inning, when she scored an unearned run off an infield single. Amistade reached base on a USF error.

Senior Jessica Dignon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded the RBI on the play and leads the squad with 33 RBI. She entered the game ranked 26th, nationally.

However, after Pitt tied the game the Bulls (34-13, 9-1 Big East) scored their winning run in the bottom of the seventh off an infield single with two outs on the board. USF struck first with a RBI double down the left line in the fourth.

Maintaining her ranking, freshman Reba Tutt (Culpeper, Va./Highland) stole her team-leading 20th base of the season in the contest and is ranked 26th in that category. Tutt hit a single to open the open and stole second on the next play.

Sophomore Kayla Zinger (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) took the loss in the circle after giving up two runs off six hits and evened her record to 8-8.

Pitt faces Louisville on Sunday, April 13, in a doubleheader at noon.
