PITTSBURGH--Junior Kristy Borza moved into third place on the all-time wins list, as Pitt's women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match against Ivy League foe Cornell, 5-2, on Saturday. The Panthers slipped to 3-4 on the season.

Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) recorded her 121st career win in the match and is now third overall, surpassing Dana Jafarian's 120 all-time wins. She is just six victories shy of setting the school record for wins, currently at 126.

Holding the school record for singles win in a career at 71, Borza has a season record of 18-6 in singles play.

In doubles action, Borza and Elizabeth Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) won in the No. 1 doubles slot for the Panthers. Additionally, the duo earned individual wins in No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Senior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had a one-set lead on her opponent before dropping the match. Smith remains fifth on the all-time wins list (118) and is tied for fifth on the most career doubles roll with 50 total.

Junior Shannon Benic (Fox Chapel, Pa./Winston Thurston/John Carroll) saw her first action of the spring in No. 3 doubles, alongside Smith, and in No. 6 singles. Additionally, freshman Stephanie Scheinoff (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) moved up to fifth in the singles lineup.
