PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars announced their 2008-09 men's basketball team's schedule on Thursday, September 4. The Friars will play 18 BIG EAST games this season. The 18-game format will allow each team to play every opponent once and three teams twice. PC's home league schedule will feature games versus St. John's on December 31, DePaul on January 3, Marquette on January 17 on ESPN2, Cincinnati on January 19, Syracuse on January 28, Villanova on February 4, Rutgers on February 14, Notre Dame on February 21 and Pittsburgh on February 24. The Friars will open their BIG EAST road schedule with games at Cincinnati on January 7 and Georgetown on January 11. PC's other BIG EAST road games are at Seton Hall on January 22, Connecticut on January 31, West Virginia on February 7, USF on February 10, Louisville on February 18, Rutgers on March 1 and Villanova on March 5 on ESPN/ESPN2. In non-conference action, the Friars' schedule is highlighted by a trip to the Anaheim Classic in Anaheim, Calif. on November 27-30. The Friars will play three games beginning with a contest against Baylor on November 27 on ESPN2. Other key games in the non-conference schedule include a home contest versus Rhode Island on December 6 and a road game at ACC foe Boston College on December 20. The Friars' regular season opener is set for November 15 versus Northeastern. PC's other non-conference home games will be against Dartmouth on November 18, Sacred Heart on November 20, Maine on November 22, Brown on December 3, Jackson State on December 17 and Bryant on December 22. The Friars will open their season with two exhibition contests versus Ottawa on November 1 and Slippery Rock on November 8. Fans can get their first glimpse of the team under new Head Coach Keno Davis at the annual Late Night Madness festivities at PC's Alumni Hall on Friday, October 17. Doors will open at 9:30 p.m. and admission is free. Tickets for all home games, as well as other road contests can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the PC Ticket Office in Alumni Hall or by calling (401) 865-GO PC.
