PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Complete Release in PDF Format The Providence College men's hockey team is ranked No. 14 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and the USCHO.com/CSTV Poll, which were released on Monday, February 18. It marks the fourth consecutive week that the Friars have been ranked nationally. PC (13-11-3 overall, 10-7-3 Hockey East) posted a 0-1-1 record last week against No. 4 New Hampshire. On Friday, February 15, the Friars played the Wildcats to a 1-1 overtime tie in Providence. The Friars outshot the Wildcats, 53-29, but sophomore John Cavanagh (Warwick, R.I.) was the only Friar to score as he collected his fifth goal of the season in the second period. Freshman Ian O'Connor (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior John Mori (Westport, Conn.) assisted on the goal. Senior Tyler Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind.) made 28 saves. The following night, the Friars were defeated by the Wildcats, 4-3, in Durham, N.H. Junior Pierce Norton (South Boston, Mass.) scored two goals, while freshman Jordan Kremyr (Cloverdale, B.C.) netted his first career tally. Sims played in his 109th career game, tying a PC school record which was set by Dan Dennis (1993-97).
The Friars are back in action on Friday, February 22 when they travel to North Andover, Mass. to take on Merrimack College at 7:00 p.m.
