PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse program announced that graduate student Bennett Murphy (Princeton, N.J.), graduate student Henry Pynchon (Ipswich, Mass.), senior Dylan Cox (Newbury, Mass.), senior Colin Reposa (East Falmouth, Mass.) and junior Danny Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) will lead the Friars as captains in 2008. Murphy is the Friars' second leading returning scorer from a year ago. In 17 games, he tallied 26 points on 21 goals and five assists. Pynchon played 15 games for PC last season and contributed six points on five goals and one assist. Reposa, Ryan and Cox return to the field after playing significant roles in 2007 in the defensive unit. Reposa and Ryan are midfielders, while Cox enters his second season on the team carrying the long-stick. Reposa and Cox collected 34 and 32 groundballs, respectively. Ryan recorded four groundballs in 2007. The Providence men's lacrosse program enters the 2008 season having won three of the last four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament titles and have made trips to the NCAA Tournament three times in the last four seasons, including each of the last two.
