INDIANOLA, Pa. - The Providence College men's soccer team scored in each half and defeated Pittsburgh, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST conference match played in Indianola, Pa. The Friars, who have won three consecutive matches, improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the BIG EAST. The Panthers fell to 2-11-2, including a 0-7-1 mark in league play.

Providence opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when senior Michael Narciso (Livingston, N.J.) recorded his first goal of the season. After freshman Alex Redding (Newton, Mass.) fired a shot that was saved by Pitt goalkeeper Eric Barnes, Narciso buried the rebound into the empty net to give Providence a 1-0 lead. Senior All-American Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) also assisted on the goal.

Sophomore Justin Kahle (Oceanport, N.J.) sealed Providence's win as he scored off a direct free kick in the 78th minute. It marked Kahle's first career goal. Junior goalkeeper Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) made two saves to earn his seventh shutout of the season, including each of the last the contests. Murray has not yielded a goal in the last 274:47. Barnes finished with six stops.

The Friars return to BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, October 21 at Pittsburgh beginning at noon.
