Providence, R.I. - Hoping to recover following this past weekend's final minute defeat, 2-1, against No. 13 Harvard, the Providence College men's soccer team will face off against The College of Holy Cross in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

In their most recent match against No. 13 Harvard, Providence (2-2) out-shot the Crimson 16-6, but suffered a heartbreaking loss when Harvard forward Michael Fucito scored the second of his two goals to seal the victory with only three minutes left in the contest. The Friars' lone goal was scored by sophomore forward Jonathan Medcalf (Tulsa, Okla.), his team-leading third goal of the season. Sophomore free-kick specialist Justin Kahle (Oceanport, N.J.) drove a left footed in-swinger into the box that Medcalf headed home for the goal. The assist was the first of the season for Kahle.

Junior goalkeeper Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) comes into this weekend's match with one shut-out on the season and a 1.18 goals against average having conceded five goals in Providence's four games.

Holy Cross (2-1) is coming off their first defeat of the season, 2-1, at the hands of Sacred Heart on Tuesday, September 11. Leading the way for the Crusaders with two goals each are forwards Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) and Marsalis Beckford (Brantford, Ontario). In goal for the Crusaders is sophomore Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.). Booth has given up only one goal on the season while making 11 saves in his three starts.

In the last meeting between the two teams, the Friars defeated Holy Cross 3-2 on September 26, 2006 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Providence next travels to DePaul on Friday, September 21 for a 5:00 p.m. contest. This match marks the first BIG EAST conference game of the season for the Friars.
