Providence, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team will play host to BIG EAST foe Marquette on Saturday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m. Following Wednesday's 3-0 loss to No. 1 UCONN, the Friars currently stand in fourth-place in the BIG EAST Blue Division.

The Friars (5-5-1, 2-3-1) hope to rebound after falling, 3-0, to No. 1 UCONN on Wednesday night. The Huskies dynamic offense was led by the nation's scoring leader, O'Brian White, as he recorded his second consecutive hat-trick. With the defeat, the Friars have been shut-out in three consecutive matches for the first time since 2004. Providence will look to create a steady offensive attack against a Marquette team that has been outscored 18-7 on the season.

Providence will again look towards senior All-American Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) to create and distribute throughout the attacking third. Maduro currently leads the team with three assists and 34 shots. He has tallied four goals on the year, three of which have been game winners. Sophomore forward Jonathan Medcalf (Tulsa, Okla.) has a team-high five goals on the year. The two players are tied for the team lead with 11 points.

In goal for the Friars is junior Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.). Following Wednesday's loss to Connecticut, he has allowed 14 goals, good for a 1.22 goals against average.

Marquette (2-8-1, 1-5) is coming off a 5-1 loss to Seton Hall in which they had some first half success, scoring the first goal of the match. The Golden Eagles were able to end the first half tied, 1-1. Marquette has been struggling to find the back of the net this season having scored only three goals in their six conference matches. Two of the three goals came in an impressive 2-1 victory over Cincinnati on September 30.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles with four points a piece are sophomore forward Nick Kay and junior midfielder Dan Adis. Kay leads the team with two goals while Adis is tied for the team lead with two assists. The Golden Eagles have split time in net this year by utilizing sophomore Matt Pyzdrowski and freshman Steve Purdy. Both players come into Saturday's game with one win having started five games and allowing nine goals each.

Following Saturday's game, Providence returns to action on Tuesday, October 16, when they travel to No. 5 Boston College in a critical non-conference match. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Newton, Mass.
