PALO ALTO, CALIF. - The Providence College Men's track team competed in the Stanford Invitational this past Friday and Saturday, March 4th and 5th in Palo Alto, California.

The Friars were led by senior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) who placed fifth in the 5000m with a time of 14:01.39. This time was good enough to qualify Haji for the Regional Championships. Junior Charles Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) finished sixth in the 800m with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 1:52.92.

Two other Friars finished in the top ten of their respective races as seniors Chris McDermott (West Haven, Conn.) and James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.) placed eight and ninth, respectively. McDermott placed eighth in the 1500m with a time of 3:54.14 and Lourenco placed ninth in the 800m with a time of 1:53.63. Both times were good enough to qualify them for the BIG EAST Championships.

The Providence College Men's Track team will return to action this Wednesday, April 9th when they compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Connecticut. The meet is scheduled to go all day.
