SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Irish forward Lindsay Schrader had 15 points and nine rebounds and No. 20 Notre Dame forced 29 turnovers en route to an 85-54 victory over Providence on Wednesday night. The Irish scored 34 points off Providence turnovers, outrebounded the Friars 45-32 and outscored them inside 38-28. Notre Dame started slowly, making just one of its first 10 shots to fall behind 9-3. But Tulyah Gaines got the Irish going with a steal, behind the back dribble and layup to ignite a 20-2 run. Seven different players scored for Notre Dame during the run as the Irish made 7-of-11 shots. The Irish pressed for much of the run, forcing six Providence turnovers in less than 5 minutes as the Friars shot just 1-of-7 from the floor. Notre Dame forced 17 turnovers in the half, resulting in 19 points by the Irish, and led 36-19 at halftime. Notre Dame continued to pull away for most of the second half, twice opening leads of 35 points. Charel Allen and Devereaux Peters had 12 points each for the Irish and Gaines and Melissa Lechlitner added 10 points. Mi-Khida Hankins led Providence with 15 points and Shantee Darian had 10.
