NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to 20th-ranked Notre Dame, 85-54, during BIG EAST play at the Joyce Center in Notre Dame, Ind. on January 30. Lindsay Schrader was one of five Irish players in double figures with a game-high 15 points. Freshman Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.) and junior Shantee Darrian (Trenton, N.J.) netted 15 points and 10 points for the Friars, respectively.

Providence led by as many as six points (9-3) just 6:01 into the game and led 11-7 with 12:01 remaining on the clock before Notre Dame went on a 28-8 scoring run over the final 7:59 of the half to take a 39-19 advantage into the break. The Irish run included a string of 14 unanswered points during a four minute and 52-second scoring drought for the Friars. Devereaux Peters led Notre Dame with 10 points in the opening 20 minutes, while Darrian posted a team-best seven points for Providence.

In the second half, Notre Dame owned a 49-35 scoring advantage to take the 31-point victory. PC shot 46.2-percent from the field in the second half (12-26), but were unable to close the deficit as the Irish hit 17-of-34 shots (50-percent) from the field in the final 20 minutes. Notre Dame capitalized on 29 Friar turnovers to score 34 of its 85 points. Notre Dame's depth also helped out in the victory as its bench outscored Providence's reserves, 36-16.

Providence returns to action on Saturday, February 5 against top-ranked Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
