PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior field hockey players Michalagh Stoddard (Norwood, Mass.) and Abby Maguire (Southbury, Conn.) have been selected to play in the 2007 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 17 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

Stoddard and Maguire are two of 38 NCAA Division I seniors chosen to participate. The duo also will join four other members of the BIG EAST Conference who have been selected to play and include Janelle Avila (Louisville), Marie-Claire Heller (Louisville), Lizzy Peijs (Connecticut) and Stephanie Campbell (Villanova).

Stoddard, the Friars' starting center back, is second on the team in scoring with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. Each of her offensive totals mark single-season career highs, while also anchoring the defense for a fourth-consecutive season as a starter. Two of Stoddard's seven goals have been game winners. For her career, she has recorded eight goals and eight assists for 24 points. Stoddard was named to the 2006 All-BIG EAST First Team and the NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region squad. Prior to the start of the 2007 campaign, Stoddard was selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

Maguire has tallied five goals and one assist for 11 points this season and ranks sixth among her teammates in scoring. Two of Maguire's five goals on the year have been game winners. Maguire is a two-time All-BIG EAST Second-Team selection and NFHCA All-Northeast Region Second-Team selection. Over her four-year career, she has compiled 67 points on 29 goals and nine assists. She ranks 12th all-time in scoring (67 points) at Providence and ninth all-time in goals scored (29).

The Friars are currently 12-6 this season, including a 4-1 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. Providence clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship with its two recent victories over Rutgers (2-1) and Villanova (3-0). The Friars will face sixth-ranked Connecticut in the BIG EAST season finale on Saturday, October 27 with a share of the leauge's regular-season title on the line. Louisville already has secured a share of the title with a final record of 5-1 in conference play. The BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship is slated for November 3-4 at J.S. Coyne Field on the campus of Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.
