Feb. 1, 2008

It was announced by the Hockey East Association on Friday that Senior Defenseman Kathleen Smith earned Player of the Month Honors. Smith led the Friars to a 6-2-1 mark in January, including a 7-3 upset of No. 4 ranked Mercyhurst and a 1-1 tie with No. 1 ranked UNH. She is the first Friar to earn Player of the Month Honors since Kristin Gigliotti '07 earned the accolade last February.

Smith notched 11 points in January, on six goals and five assists. She also has a +7 plus/minus rating. Smith had three games in which she scored multiple points, including two goals and two assists in PC's 7-3 win over No. 4 Mercyhurst on January 12. The four points were a career-high for Smith.

Smith and the Friars return to action tomorrow, February 2 as they close out their season series with the Terriers of Boston University. The game, taking place at BU's Walter Brown Arena, will begin at 3:00 p.m.
