PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College head women's soccer coach Jim McGirr recently helped lead the United States Youth Soccer Region I Olympic Development Program (ODP) 1992/1993 to a third place finish at a FIFA Tournament in Costa Rica.

McGirr helped assist the Under 15 Girls' ODP Region 1 Team which includes players from Maine to Virginia, as well as West Virginia to the Atlantic Ocean. The squad competed against international teams from Costa Rica, Chile, Honduras, and Trinidad & Tobago. Three other regional USA ODP teams were in the field.

Defeating almost every team in the field, McGirr's squad took home an impressive third place. The team suffered one of its only losses to the Under 20 Chilean team, which will be the same squad competing in the World Cup later this year.

Games were played in Costa Rica between April 5th and 12th. The team participated in games, cultural events, and other festivites during their stay in the Latin American country.
